Analysis of Twenty-two Amenorrheic Patients


Abstract
A retrospective study was attempted to analyze 22 cases of primary and secondary amenorrheic patients -managed at Chungnam University Hospital. during about 7 months from April, 1983 to October, 1983.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. These patients were able to analyze according to organ defect. Twelve cases (54.5%) were classified to have hypothalamo-pituitary defect, 5 cases were end-organ defect, 4 cases were ovarian defect and 1 case was adrenal gland defect.
2. These patients were able to analyze according to disease entity. Eight cases (35.4%) were diagnosed to have hypothalamo-pituitary dysfunction, 3 cases (13.6,¡Æ0) were Turner syndrome, 3 cases (13. 6%) were Asherman¢¥s syndrome, 2 cases (9.1%) were testicular feminization, 2 cases (9.1%) were hypothalamo-pituitary failure and idiopathic hyperprolactinemia, pituitary acidophilic adenoma, premature ovarian failure or congenital adrenal hyperplasia was i case, respectively.
Accordingly, this study suggested that there were diverse etiologic factors in spite of small number of amenorrheic patients.
